A non-violent modern martial art for self-defense suitable for human beings of all ages and physical abilities. Kokikai Aikido was founded by Sensei Shuji Maruyama, who was an uchideshi (apprentice student) of O-Sensei Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of aikido.
Sensei Robert Choy is the Chief Instructor of Golden Gate Kokikai and holds the rank of rokudan (6th degree blackbelt). Sensei Choy began his aikido training at Aikido Kokikai Seattle in 1994 and founded Golden Gate Kokikai in 2001. He is a direct student of Kokikai Aikido Founder Sensei Shuji Maruyama and regularly visits Sensei Maruyama at the Kokikai hombu (headquarters) dojo in Nagoya, Japan.
